The latest Bond film and the 25th installment in one of the world’s longest-running film franchises is finally set to premiere after being stalled for more than 18 months due to a global pandemic. The iconic launch of No Time to Die holds special meaning to the Princess Grace Foundation having many close connections to the heart of its work.
In Monaco, the Princess Grace Foundation-USA will host a red-carpet screening of the film and a “007 experience” honoring Sir Roger Moore, star of seven Bond films, a long-time resident of the principality, and dear friend to Princess Grace. No Time To Die director Cary Joji Fukunaga, a 2005 recipient of a Princess Grace Award, will be present at the premiere joining His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco for the event.
Among a host of notable names that will be in attendance, the one that stands out from the crowd is Dame Shirley Bassey— the only artist to have recorded three Bond theme songs, including the iconic “Goldfinger,” –considered the quintessential Bond theme. The acclaimed singer, known for her impressive voice is also a resident of the Principality.
The No Time to Die theme song—which has already topped charts at No.1— was recorded by Billie Eilish, now 19, and the youngest singer-songwriter to win all top Grammy awards in the same year --- Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year --- and she is now the youngest artist to record a Bond song. Among her many accomplishments, Billie recently co-chaired the 2021 Met Gala donning a show-stopping red Oscar de la Renta gown inspired by Grace Kelly in the 1955 classic, To Catch a Thief. According to Vogue, Oscar de la Renta’s Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim were tasked with reimagining the strapless white gown Kelly wore in the 1955 thriller, but in a head-turning shade of deepest red.
The red-carpet screening hosted by the Foundation will take place at Salle Garnier Opera house followed by a black-tie post-screening after-party at the iconic “Casino Royale” itself, the Casino de Monte-Carlo. For one night only, the glittering lights of Hollywood will shine on the Principality for this spectacular Monaco premiere of No Time to Die.
